Class Expectations

       Career and Technical Education
The Technology Academy at the New Denver West High School

Welcome to my classes at the Technology Academy at the New Denver West High School. We have 172 class days until the school year ends in May. That sounds like a lot of time but, considering all that we have to accomplish, it is not. This is a business class. We will learn content skills; but, we will also learn workplace skills and leadership skills. All are important to your future educational and career success. It is expected that you will remain on task and conduct yourself in a business-like way. On this page are key things that you need to know. Let's have a GREAT year!

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Complete all competency based assignments.
  • Complete portfolio requirements for passage.
  • Model workplace skills ( including initiative, accuracy, respect, preparedness, punctuality, responsibility, and integrity).
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Participate in the career development process.
  • Participate in Future Business Leaders of America.
  • Follow all West High School rules and procedures.

ATTENDANCE

It is expected that you will be in class, every day, on-time and prepared to participate. You are expected to have a minimum 90% attendance. Poor attendance will effect your grade. Parents will be notified of students failing to meet this expectation.

GRADES

Your grade in the class is based on classroom participation (10%) and your class portfolio (90%). Course content (50%), leadership(20%), and workplace skills (20%) make up the elements of the class. See the grading policy for more details.

COMPUTERS

In my classes, you will be working in a computer lab. This is a great opportunity for you to learn some skills that will help you in the future. It is expected that you will follow the rules for safe computer and internet use. Students and parents must sign the Computer Use Agreement. Students will not be allowed to use the computers in the lab until this agreement is signed and returned.

E-MAIL

Students will have an e-mail account for in-class use only. This account should NOT be used for personal e-mail. This account may be monitored for use. There is no expectation of privacy with this account.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

The school policy on electronic devices will be strictly enforced.

DRESS CODE

The school policy on dress will be strictly enforced.
